A beautiful loop to the Fahrlechhütte
Via Neualm to Lake Duisitzkarsee
The hike starts at Eschachalm in Obertal. Instead of heading directly up to Lake Duisitzkarsee, the route first leads further into the valley towards Neualm.
From there, a varied hiking trail takes you up into the Duisitzkar. Once you reach the top, the Fahrlechhütte awaits right by the lake – the perfect place to stop for a well-deserved break before following the hiking trail back down to Eschachalm.

Further into Obertal
From Duisitzkar to Keinprechthütte
If you’d like to continue your hike from the Fahrlechhütte, you can head via Neualm towards Keinprechthütte.
The hut is located at 1,872 metres in the heart of the Schladminger Tauern and is an ideal starting point for further hikes – whether towards the Giglach Lakes or along the Schladminger Tauern High Trail.
A beautiful extension for anyone who wants to explore beyond Lake Duisitzkarsee.

One of the most impressive hikes around the Fahrlechhütte connects several special places in the Schladminger Tauern.
From Lake Duisitzkarsee, an Alpine hiking trail leads via Murspitzsattel or Ferchtlhöhe towards the Giglach Lakes. There, the Ignaz-Mattis-Hütte and Giglachseehütte are surrounded by an impressive high-Alpine landscape.
From the Giglach Lakes, you can continue towards Ursprungalm, Obertauern or Lungau, or follow the Schladminger Tauern High Trail.

Not every hike has to end back in the valley on the same day. The Fahrlechhütte offers 16 simple sleeping places, so you can end your day right by Lake Duisitzkarsee and continue your journey through the Schladminger Tauern the next morning.
The hut is ideally located for hikes towards Neualm, Keinprechthütte and the Giglach Lakes – or as a stop on a longer multi-day hike through Obertal.
